The development of AI is accelerating at an increasing pace. I believe we're seeing the beginning of the biggest disruption to our society and economy in history. Already companies are talking about not hiring new people but rather using AIs instead to fill new roles or roles of people who leave.
I’ve spent the last 30 or so days since summer to improve my habits. It’s a life long project and something I enjoy spending time tinkering with. I feel that I get to know myself better as part of this process. And that there is no one size fits all approach.
I will try to explain this as simple as I can. And I want to start by saying that I'm no expert. This is just my humble attempt at simplifying something that may look frighteningly complicated.
It feels like there are a lot of societal issues in many countries to which there are relatively simple solutions that a majority of people could agree to. But they don't seem to implemented. Why is that?
This document is a work in progress. I'm building up a knowledge bank of things to do to improve your position in life, your career, any goals you might have. How to navigate all of it. This document is amazing. It’s actually working. I want to refine it to make it useful for any
Since last devlog I've created a new project in addition to the action role playing game. This time it's a sandbox game inspired by Minecraft and Valheim. I still have a target to release a game by 1st July but I found that after completing a proof of concept in the arpg and trying it out I wante
In this tutorial you'll learn how to create an infinitely expanding procedurally generated world in Godot 4. The principles are applicable in any engine. The player will be able to move around in this world and it'll expand forever.
Welcome to this week’s devlog. Below you can find some bullets of the highlights from the week. There are a bit more details here than in the video version. However if you prefer the video medium you can find it embedded below:
Welcome and thanks for joining this new series where I log my progress on my goal of creating my first game. It will be an ARPG (action role playing game) made in Godot. My goal is to complete this within 3 months.
The benefits I feel from quitting alcohol are manifold. I will go through the benefits in this article and also comment on what the challenges of quitting alcohol were for me.
Trigonometric functions (like sine, cosine, tangent) seem to be perennial in math so I need to go back and master them. I came across them recently in a unit about limits, and e
As previously mentioned on the blog, something I want to learn and have enjoyed doing earlier in my life is math. I had a break from progressing in math from about after graduating high school until now. I’ve probably regressed a bit even, due to using just the basic
I’ve done some experimenting lately with a lot of things in my lifestyle. My target is to improve my cognitive abilities and energy throughout the day so that I can be as productive as possible. Both in regards to my industry, but also other pursuits that I may have in life. Like relationships an
I’ve been taking daily cold showers for about 2-3 years so far. It is truly amazing what it does for my well being. The benefits of cold showers include me feeling more alert, happier, calmer and more resilient. I can handle normally stressful situations a lot better. And an unintended consequenc
I wrote an article about my previous attempt to quit coffee here. I've tried it again and this time I’ve actually been able to quit all caffeine for real. I haven’t had any since 9th December 2023. That’s more than 2 months ago now. And I have some good news. It’s not been
I want to learn more maths. But why? Well I don’t want to ever be limited by something being to difficult for me to understand. I want to be able to grasp anything. Be it quantum physics or a complicated algorithm or the reasoning flaws in a scientific paper. How can I achieve this?
I recently tried to reduce the amount of coffee I’m drinking. The reason was that I felt that my sleep quality was deteriorating. And that was validated by the data from my Garmin watch. I thought that the coffee I’m drinking could be a likely culprit.
I tried working out every day for a month. How did it go? I found that my mood improved, but that the cutoff was at about 5-6 workouts per week. After that the marginal gain of adding another session felt negligible at best and negative at worst. Also, allowi
The next thing I want to try in terms of workout is working out every day. The point of this is to elevate mood and happiness. I believe it might also be helpful for cognitive function.
I was just back at the gym after a 1.5 week break due to a cold. I’ve now stopped using the 4 hour body protocol by the book. However, I’m evolving it to fit my preferences. I liked the fact that the protocol from the book endorses going to failure in the sets. This is something I’ll keep doing.
Sometimes it can be hard to find motivation to do things. For example, going to the gym, building that thing you’ve been thinking about or something else that can be beneficial for the future. Something I find is an easy way to increase my motivation to do longer term beneficial things is to zoom
This summer me and my significant other built a dining table. It was a very fulfilling experience. It took about 1.5 days and cost roughly $80 for all the materials needed. This is how we did it.
After doing Occam’s protocol during the summer, for about 6 weeks, I want to start reviewing how it has gone, and start thinking about what protocol I want to follow now when I’m back home and getting back into routines.
I’ve recently started gaming a little bit again. It’s something I’m trying to stay away from in general because I’ve had the idea that it’s too fun and it consumes me too much. But this summer I started playing Diablo 4 with a friend. And what a great game it is.
What is the thing you like doing that others see as work? What have you always been obsessed about? If you can find that and harness that you will be unstoppable. There is no other place where you will have a greater output than doing this. It will be easy for you because you enjoy it. You will s
I want to batch more of my activities to free up more time. This applies mostly to activities where it’s important that it gets done but when or how isn’t as critical. For example doing laundry or buying groceries. Answering texts or cooking.
How can we get to the root of the knowledge of something? In a way that lets us apply first principles knowledge to solve problems? (See the previous article on using first principles to reduce complexity.)
Can measuring what we spend our time on make us better at time management? Can it make us more mindful of how we spend it? So that we can spend our time better. In this case better would mean increasing the probability of desired outcomes.
In a previous post I talked about how to simplify things. But to convince ourselves to do this we need to understand whether it is beneficial or not. What are the costs of unnecessary complexity? And what are the benefits of simplif
I started the Occam's protocol workout on one week ago. This is my one week into the new program evaluation post. I'll evaluate body changes, the exercises, food and supplements.
You’ve probably heard expressions such as keep it simple stupid (KISS). It might intuitively sound like a good idea to keep things simple. But sometimes it’s as if our nature is not naturally inclined towards creating simple things. Why would there otherwise be so many messes in the world that ar
Being in tune with our bodies is essential for understanding the factors that influence our energy levels and overall well-being. In my recent journal entries, I have been reflecting on my experiences with fatigue and exploring potential connections between my diet, particularly sugar consumption
So far it’s been quite easy to follow my new high protein food protocol. The key has been to have a plan. It is not hard to follow it if you know what you’ll eat every day.
I ordered six new supplements that I want to try for health and gym performance. These are creatine, l-glutamine, zinc, omega-3, magnesium and ashwagandha. I want to know which of these are effective at improving my health and gym performance
I’ll be trying a new workout regime. The point of it is lifting to get bigger. I mentioned it briefly in this post about my new overall health improvement changes.
How far can you go? Probably very far. You can probably achieve almost anything you want. Imagine then, how important your value system is. Before putting yourself on a path to reach your goals and values, should you not evaluate these same goals and values? Putting them through scrutiny, much in
I could increase my wealth after learning a simple principle. It took me a while to find it, yet in retrospect it seems trivial. Let me teach you in this brief text what took me years to uncover.
By applying a simple principle to my life I've been able to increase my output while doing less. I’ve written this text so that you can learn in a few minutes what took me years to figure out.
